In short: everything, starting with, well, the starter. Our all-natural starters are derived from Cabernet and Chardonnay grapes harvested at Channing Daughters Vineyard on Long Island. During our fermentation process, these signature starters add depth, complexity, and flavor. Then, our talented team of bakers gets to work. While we’ve invested in technology over the years to remain efficient and support our growth, our breads are still hand-shaped and hand-scored, just as they were 100+ years ago when Orwashers began. Combined, this relentless devotion to craft, flavor and impeccable quality makes our breads an absolute standout.

We carry an extensive line of both fresh and frozen breads. Fresh breads are baked day-of and are available through our local network of distributor partners.
Through our frozen line, we offer a wide selection of breads that are baked until just about ready and then flash frozen. This gives you the flexibility and freedom to finish them according to your own preferences. (But for the record, we like our loaves crusty and dark!)
