Orwashers is one of the longest standing bread bakeries in NYC. The company was founded in 1916 and is going strong today.
We collaborate with Original Sunshine, now offering Gluten Free Bagels in Plain, Everything or Sesame. Available as a sub for any of our Bagel Sandwiches.
To the absolute extent possible, yes. Some examples of our local ingredients include:
- Yeast starters from the grapes grown by Channing Daughters Winery on Long Island
- Flour from North Country Farms and Farmer Ground Flour, both located in upstate NY
- Otis Oatmeal Stout (for our Craft Ale Bread) from Sixpoint Brewery in Red Hook, Brooklyn
- Fruit preserves for our jelly doughnuts from Beth’s Farm, based in Columbia, NY
We support many deserving schools and nonprofit organizations across NYC through the donation of our products and gift certificates. To request a donation, please write to info@orwashers.com. Please note that although we would love to provide for all who ask, we may not be able to accommodate the many requests we receive each week.
Our gift cards can be used at all three of our locations, or online, and have no expiration date.
Many of our breads can be found at a variety of restaurants and retailers across NYC. Some highlights include Zabars, Citarella, Gourmet Garage, Graces, Whole Foods, Gramercy Tavern, Narcissa and Mile End.
We also participate in many weekly farmers markets in and around the NYC area, including Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Long Island, and Westchester.
